| The doctors volunteer their spare time at the Fairfax County Animal Shelter. They provide medical treatment to animals in the shelter looking for homes.
Our doctors have been active with the Fairfax County Pets On Wheels program. POW involves using animals and their owners as volunteers to provide pet therapy to improve the quality of life of area nursing home residents and other socially isolated persons.
The doctors and staff have conducted seminars for 4-H Explorer students investigating the veterinary profession.
The staff has conducted talks both here in the hospital and at schools to children who are interested in veterinary medicine or animal husbandry.
Our hospital provides medical treatment, at no charge, to injured wildlife. When the wildlife is ready we release it to a licensed wildlife rehabilitator for follow up supportive care until it can be released back into the wild.
Do you have pet beds, carriers, kennels, leashes, collars, or bowls that are still in good shape? We are a distribution site for those unwanted pet care items. We distribute the items to animal shelters, and local animal rescue groups. These organizations are operating on limited funds, and greatly appreciate donated items. There is a box in reception that you can place the items that you no longer want, and we will distribute them for you. |
