What Are Vaccines?

Vaccines are deactivated viruses or bacteria that, in small doses, are delivered into your pet’s body, causing their immune system to develop antibodies that will fight off that specific illness. If your pet comes into contact with that disease in the future, they will most likely be able to fight it off without ever showing any signs of sickness. It’s important to know that not all vaccines that are available need to be administered to your pet. Our Great Falls vaccination vets will decide which vaccinations are appropriate depending on certain factors about your pet, including age, environment, and breed. We won’t give them anything just for the sake of giving them something because it’s available. We have your pet’s best interests in mind.

The most common vaccinations for dogs and cats include:

Puppy and Kitten Vaccine Schedules

If you are a parent of a newborn pet, we highly recommend you schedule their first round of vaccinations. Kittens and puppies are highly susceptible to many infectious diseases. Their mother’s milk provides a limited natural immunity that eventually wears off. We won’t give you new pet all their vaccinations at once, but will instead spread them out over approximately 12 to 16 weeks.

Don’t wait to schedule your vaccinations! Reach out to our Great Falls veterinarians today to get started!

Sunday was the first time I was ever at this vets office and sadly I wish it was under different circumstances. We had to help a 4 month old puppy cross the rainbow bridge. They just couldn’t get him stable and he was suffering and ultimately that was the best decision. Although it was such a stressing and traumatic experience for my son the staff was extremely compassionate and took their time explaining everything that was going to happen and options for getting his ashes, paw and nose prints and hair clippings. I wish the outcome would have been different but I truly believe they did everything they could to save Yami and now my dog is totally lost walking around looking for him because they were inseparable. RIP little Yami and thank you Quakertown Vet Clinic for everything. You helped my son through one of the hardest days he’s been through and your patience, compassion and understanding means the world to us. I think I’ll be switching vets to QVC for my 4 pups. They were just amazing!
Dr. Ian and his staff were phenomenal. I work in healthcare,,,, it’s a mess everywhere human or pet family. They were swamped, we called ahead and they put my cat in ICU for supplemental oxygen support and triaged super fast. Dr Ian came and answered my questions and really listened. He and his staff, Shania were quick, knowledgeable and exemplified common sense. Refreshing! Our cat Angus is home in bed with my 6 year old daughter because of the quick and wonderful treatment this hospital provided. Thank you so much!
I had an emergency with our cat Bella. They took her right in and got her all fixed up. She is doing much better. Everyone was professional and friendly. I will go back if she needs regular check ups and visits. Great job. Thank you.
Quakertown Vet is the best clinic I have brought my felines to. I have had amazing care and interactions with Dr. Geller, Dr. Newton, Dr. Holloway, and Dr. Kichline. My senior feline had been experiencing health obstacles this past year and all these providers were genuinely invested and cared for him like he was their own. The front staff is always attentive. The techs are so kind and caring. Even if my senior feline was feeling feisty about getting his nails clipped, the techs had a positive attitude. None of the employees I have interacted with are money hungry.Dr. Geller provided my kitten with a vaccine and even spent extra time with him to make sure there was no adverse reaction. Dr. Holloway is the primary veterinarian for my felines due to her intelligence and her kindness to my felines. She genuinely cared for my senior feline and was invested in his treatment plan until the end. Dr. Kichline was the provider in the ED. She helped my senior cat cross over the rainbow bridge peacefully. She provided thoughtfulness and patience in the way that my senior wasn’t just another euthanasia to her.
